Li Hua - Rika

Chinese woodcarving artist. Born in Guangzhou, he studied in Japan after graduating from the Guangzhou School of Fine Arts. In 1934, while teaching at his alma mater, he organized the Modern Printmaking Research Society and promoted the woodcarving movement. After World War II, he served as a professor at the National College of Fine Arts in Beijing. His style is unique, combining realistic content with romantic colors. 中国の木刻画家。広州に生まれ，広州美術学校卒業後日本に留学。1934年母校で教えるかたわら現代版画研究会を組織して木刻運動を推進。第２次大戦後は北京で国立芸術専門学校教授等を勤めた。作風は現実主義的な内容とロマン主義的色彩をもつ独自のもの。
