Leris
French author and ethnologist. He joined the Surrealist movement but left it in 1929 along with Queneau and others. After participating in a research trip to Central Africa (1931-1933), he began studying ethnology, publishing the travelogue "Phantom Africa" ​​(1934). While working at the Musée de l'Homme, he formed the "Sociological Research Society" with Bataille and others, and published his autobiographical work "The Age of Maturity" (1939). After World War II, he continued to write the four-volume "Rules of the Game" for 30 years. His other works include "Epilepsy" (1943), "Aurora" (1946), and "Art of Black Africa" ​​(1968).

フランスの作家,民族学者。シュルレアリスム運動に加わるが1929年にクノーらとともに脱退。中央アフリカの調査旅行(1931年―1933年)への参加をきっかけに民族学の研究にとりかかり,その旅行記録《幻のアフリカ》(1934年)を発表する。人類博物館に勤務するかたわら,バタイユらと〈社会学研究会〉を結成し,また自伝的著作《成熟の年齢》(1939年)を公刊した。第2次大戦後には,4巻に及ぶ《ゲームの規則》を30年間書き続ける。ほかに《癲癇》(1943年),《オーロラ》(1946年),《黒人アフリカの美術》(1968年)など。
