Kichikichi grasshopper - Kichikichi grasshopper

An orthoptera insect, the former name of the false short-horned grasshopper. The name Kichikichibatta was given on the assumption that it would make a sound, but since this grasshopper does not make any sounds, it was changed to false short-horned grasshopper.

直翅(ちょくし)類の昆虫で、ショウリョウバッタモドキの旧名。キチキチバッタの名は、鳴くことを前提としてつけられた名であるが、当該のバッタはまったく鳴かないので、ショウリョウバッタモドキに改められた。
