Kitano Plain - Kitano Heiya

...Topographically, it is classified into three terraces, an alluvial plain, and reclaimed land. Regionally, the border near Kurume City where the Sefuri Mountains and Mino Mountains come close is divided into the two Chikuhiran (Kitano Plain) in the north, the Minami Chikuhiran (also called the Chikugo Plain) on the southern side of Fukuoka Prefecture, and the Saga Plain on the Saga Prefecture side. On the northeastern side of the two Chikuhiran, which form an almost triangular shape, at the foot of the Furushiro and Umami mountains, upper and middle terraces have developed in fragments, but the majority of the land is terraced alluvial fan and the floodplain of the Chikugo River.
