White road

The path of the moon on the celestial sphere as it revolves around the Earth. The moon's orbital plane is tilted about 5 degrees to the ecliptic, so the ecliptic path also appears to be tilted at the same angle to the ecliptic. This inclination angle varies from about 5 degrees 0 minutes to 5 degrees 18 minutes due to perturbations from the sun and other sources (the average is 5 degrees 7 minutes 47.41 seconds. Incidentally, 1 degree is 1/360th of a circumference, 1 minute is 1/60th of a degree, and 1 second is 1/60th of a minute). Meanwhile, the intersection of the ecliptic path and the ecliptic also moves slightly westward (retrograde) due to perturbations from the sun and other sources to the motion of the moon, and completes one revolution around the celestial sphere in a period of 6793.477 days (about 18.6 years) relative to the sidereal world.

月が地球の周りを公転することにより天球上を動く道をいう。月の軌道面は黄道面に対し約5度傾いているので、白道も黄道に対し同じ角度だけ傾いて見える。この傾斜角は、太陽などの摂動により、およそ5度0分角から5度18分角まで変化する（平均は5度7分47.41秒角とされているちなみに1度は円周の360分の1、1分は1度の60分の1、1秒は1分の60分の1の角度である）。一方、白道と黄道との交点は、同じく月の運動に対する太陽などの摂動により、すこしずつ西へ動き（逆行）、恒星界に対して天球を6793.477日（約18.6年）の周期で1周する。
