A man of letters in the mid-Heian period. Michizane's grandson and Takami's son. He was called Kansanpon. At the age of 45, he finally passed the test, and after serving as Naiki and Benkan for many years, he held prominent positions as a scholar, such as Monjo Hakase, Daigaku Kami, and Shikibu no Taifu. However, his desire to be promoted to Kugyo was not realized, and he was finally awarded the rank of Jusanmi at the age of 83, but he died on September 8, 4th year of Tengen, that same year. As one of the leading literary figures of the Murakami era alongside Oe no Asatsuna and Koretoki, he was active in composing the "Kongenroku Byobushi" folding screen poems, submitting petitions for era names, and writing imperial edicts and petitions. Furthermore, in response to an imperial edict from Emperor Murakami, he submitted the Three Articles of Opinion in 954 (Tenryaku 8), a treatise pointing out political reforms, proving that he was not just a literary figure. He wrote the poetry collection "Bunkaishu" and the "Joi Ryakurei," but both have since been lost. Many of his poems and prose remain in works such as "Fusoshu" and "Honcho Monzui." His delicate and elegant style of poetry was beloved in later generations, and his works are quoted more than any other Japanese poet in the "Wakan Roeishu."
