Surplus wage

The term for the basic wage item. It is used in contrast to the standard wage. Usually, the standard wage includes basic allowances in addition to the wage agreed upon by labor and management according to the prescribed working hours. This includes basic salary and family allowances, but which wage items are included in the standard wage are decided through discussion between labor and management at each company. In contrast, non-standard wages refer to overtime allowances for working beyond the prescribed working hours.

基本となる賃金費目の呼称。基準内賃金に対していう。通常，基準内賃金には規定の労働時間に見合った労使合意による賃金に基本となる諸手当が含まれる場合が多い。基本給，家族手当などがこれに入るが，どの賃金費目を基準内賃金にするかは各企業の労使が話合って決めている。これに対し，基準外賃金は所定労働時間をこえて働いた超過勤務手当などをさす。
