Bat Haori - Kawahori Haori
〘Noun〙 A haori coat that was popular during the Kan'ei and Shoho eras ( 1624-1648 ) in the Edo period. It is short in length, has rounded sleeves , and is shaped like a bat with its wings spread. Kawahori. Bat haori. ※Kanazoshi, Usou Soushi (1632), Vol. 1 "A short piece of clothing, <abbreviated> Kahahori haori. Yono hakama. Only a Toda kodachi and a long handle."

〘名〙 江戸時代、武士や町人が着用した、非常に丈(たけ)の短い羽織で、身頃よりも長い丈の袖がつく。かわほりばおり。※俳諧・続山の井(1667)「やぶくすしこそはやり出けれ 鳥のなき里にかうもり羽織きて〈安信〉」
