Bat Haori - Kawahori Haori
〘Noun〙 A haori coat that was popular during the Kan'ei and Shoho eras ( 1624-1648 ) in the Edo period. It is short in length, has rounded sleeves , and is shaped like a bat with its wings spread. Kawahori. Bat haori. ※Kanazoshi, Usou Soushi (1632), Vol. 1 "A short piece of clothing, <abbreviated> Kahahori haori. Yono hakama. Only a Toda kodachi and a long handle."

〘Noun〙 A very short haori coat worn by samurai and townspeople during the Edo period, with sleeves that are longer than the body. Kawahoribao. ※Haiku poem, Zoku Yamanoi (1667) "Yabukusushi koso hayari dekere Tori no naki sato ni kaumori haori kite (Yasunobu)"

〘名〙 江戸時代、武士や町人が着用した、非常に丈(たけ)の短い羽織で、身頃よりも長い丈の袖がつく。かわほりばおり。※俳諧・続山の井(1667)「やぶくすしこそはやり出けれ 鳥のなき里にかうもり羽織きて〈安信〉」
