...Flood control methods have been developed from these life-risking experiences, and the main methods are as follows: (1) Methods for overflow: stacking several layers of bales of sand on the top of the levee (Figure a), damming, driving piles into the top of the levee and applying damming, and laying straw mats on the back slope of the levee to prevent scouring of the back slope of the levee due to overflow (Figure b).
