…In the early modern period, Nakano Maki, one of the five horse ranches of Kogane, established in the Edo Shogunate, was established here, and in the early Meiji period, immigrants from Tokyo developed Hatsutomi. The Kinoshita Highway, which runs north and south through the city, is also called the Nama Highway, and was a transportation route for carrying fresh fish from Choshi to Edo and Gyotoku, and in the early modern period, Kamagaya Post Station was established here. The Hokuso Railway (now Tobu Railway) opened in 1923, the Shin-Keisei Electric Railway in 1949, and the Hokuso Development Railway in 1991. Shopping districts were formed in front of each station along the line, and the area around Tobu Railway Kamagaya Station became the city center. …
