A play by British playwright H. Pinter. Three acts, three scenes. First performed in 1960. An old homeless man with no proof of identity ends up in a rubbish apartment building, where he fights with the brother of the resident over the management of the room, and just when it seems he will get a job as the apartment manager, he is banished again. It was Pinter's first commercially successful play. With a unique rhythmic style of writing, it suggests the image of modern people who are bound by interpersonal relationships, but are alienated by the fear inherent in them, and cannot find a place to settle down.
