The first mass demonstration of German republicans and liberals. In the wake of the July Revolution in France and the Polish uprising of 1830, the movement for freedom and unity in Germany was rekindled. A mass rally was held on May 27-30, 1832, at the ruins of Hambach Castle near Neustadt an der Weinstrasse in western Germany, bringing together representatives from almost all of Germany's cities, as well as about 30,000 craftsmen and farmers from the surrounding area. The purpose of the rally was for the participants to demonstrate to the whole of Germany their will to fight for freedom and unity, and to discuss future measures. However, reflecting the situation in the 1830s when the most radical elements of the opposition had already become republican, it also became a place where clear differences of opinion became apparent between those who represented republican tendencies, such as PJ Siebenpfeiffer and JGA Wirth, and those who maintained a liberal position, such as F. Schuler.

ドイツの共和主義，自由主義者の初めての大衆的示威集会。1830年のフランス七月革命，ポーランド蜂起を契機に再燃したドイツ各地での自由と統一を求める運動を背景として，32年5月27～30日に，ドイツ西部ノイシュタット･アン･デル･ワインシュトラーセ近郊のハンバハ城址に，ドイツのほとんどすべての都市の代表と近隣の手工業者，農民約3万人を集めて行われた大衆集会。この集会の目的は，参加者たちが自由と統一のために闘うみずからの意志を全ドイツに表示し，今後の方策を協議することにあったが，すでに反体制派の最も尖鋭な部分が共和主義化していた1830年代の状況を反映して，共和主義的傾向を代表するジーベンファイファーP.J.Siebenpfeiffer，ウィルトJ.G.A.Wirth等と自由主義的立場を保持したF.シューラー等とのあいだの明確な見解の相違が顕在化する場ともなった。
