…1183年(寿永2)10月の宣旨で，源頼朝の実力支配が及んだ国々と王朝が認めた東国の範囲は東海道，東山道を指していたが，85年(文治1)には尾張以東，翌年には三河･信濃･越後以東の東日本が東国とされた。しかし承久の乱(1221)の勃発当時には，遠江･信濃以東の国々が〈関東分〉といわれており，かなり縮小しているが，乱後設置された六波羅探題の管轄範囲は尾張･飛驒･加賀以西であり，1186年当時と比べると，北陸について能登，越中が東国に入ったと推定され，この範囲は長く動かなかった。ただ1319年(元応1)三河，尾張，伊勢，志摩，美濃，加賀が幕府の管轄下に入ったことがあるが，翌年，三河を除き旧に復している。…
