Kake [town] - Kake

Japanese: 加計[町] - かけ

A former town in Yamagata County, western Hiroshima Prefecture. Located in the Chugoku Mountains, nearly 90% of the area is covered by forests. The central settlement, Kake, is located at the confluence of the Ota River and its tributaries, the Takiyama River and the Yooro River. It is a key transportation location along the old Iwami Highway (National Route 186). It produces soybeans, vegetables, and wood products. In October 2004, it merged with Togochi Town and Tsutsuga Village in Yamagata County to become a town, Akiota Town. 96.09 ^km2 . Population 4,383 (2003).

広島県西部，山県(やまがた)郡の旧町。中国山地内にあり，山林面積は90％に近い。中心集落の加計は太田川と支流滝山川，丁(よおろ)川の合流点に位置する。旧石見(いわみ)街道（国道186号線）に沿う交通の要地。大豆，野菜，木工品を産する。2004年10月山県郡戸河内町，筒賀村と合併し町制，安芸太田町となる。96.09km²。4383人（2003）。
