Calvinism - Calvinism

Japanese: カルバン派 - かるばんは
Calvinism - Calvinism

…It is sometimes used as a general term for Protestant churches, but more accurately it is a term referring to Calvinist churches in particular as opposed to Lutheran churches. Cities in Switzerland and southern Germany underwent a religious reform that was somewhat separate from Lutheranism (Zwingli, Butzer, Ecolampadius, etc.).

From [Huguenot]

…It refers to French Calvinists from the period between the Reformation and the French Revolution. There are various theories about the origin of the word, but the most widely accepted is that it comes from the Genevan pronunciation of the German word Eidgenosse, which means "fellow covenants."

From the Wars of Huguenot

...Armed conflict between Catholics and Protestants that took place in France from 1562 to 1598. In Japan, this civil war is called the "Huguenot Wars" because the Calvinists in France at the time were called Huguenots by Catholics, but in European history it is usually called the "Religious Wars". Along with the rebellion of the Beggars' Order (Goissen) in the Netherlands against Spain and the Thirty Years' War in Germany, this is one of the major religious wars that raged in early modern Europe, and is heavily influenced by the international religious conflict that began with the Protestant Reformation.
