In the entry for July 20, 1521, in the diary of Nakatomi Suketsuna, the chief priest of Kasuga Wakamiya Shrine, "Kasugashaji Suketsuna," it is written that the residents of Takabatake-go held an elegant event at the chief priest's residence at Wakamiya Shrine. The event was centered around three umbrella poles, and about 40 dancers, wearing short kimonos and loincloths, performed the "Satsuma Dance" and "Saigyo Sakura" dances.
