As the original title of Mandragora suggests, the story of a young man named Carimaco trying to get a beautiful woman (who is married) by any means possible, and depicts the evil that dominated the secular life of 16th-century Florence. It is said to have been written in 1519, and has since become one of the most frequently performed Renaissance comedies. …
