Today's yachts can be broadly divided into seven categories: sailing dinghy, racing keelboat, racing multihull, cruiser, offshore racer, motor sailor, and motor yacht. (1) Sailing dinghy: A sailing dinghy is a light boat with a total length of 3-7m (most are 4-6m), with a centerboard. The centerboard is a liftable platform attached to the center of the bottom of the boat, which prevents the boat from being pushed sideways.
