Carrara Marble - Carrara Marble

Japanese: カラーラ大理石 - からーらだいりせき
Carrara Marble - Carrara Marble

In the narrow sense, it refers to a metamorphic rock (commonly called crystalline limestone in petrology) made of equigranular, well-recrystallized calcite and dolomite. As a name for architectural and decorative stone, it is used in a broader sense, referring to limestone made mainly of calcite, but also to rocks with the same color and pattern, such as limestone containing serpentine. The name comes from the beautiful porphyritic limestone found in Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China, and the English word marble comes from the Greek word marmaron, which means a crystalline stone that sparkles in the light.
