Washi paper was made in the vicinity of Kamo in Echigo Province (Niigata Prefecture). It is an oval sized paper (25cm long, 30cm wide) made from paper mulberry. It was also called "Nisenmai paper" (2,000 sheets) because it was sold in folds of 20 and in bundles of 100 folds.
