This is the trademark name for a type of film projector invented by American inventor Thomas Edison in 1891, which gave birth to cinema. A 12.2-meter-long film, invented the previous year by G. Eastman, was rotated by an automatic device and viewed from above through a magnifying glass, shining the light of a light bulb below. This "peep film" could only be viewed by one person, but it was quickly adopted for film shows and gained popularity. Eventually, the Cinématographe, which projected a large image and entertained a large audience at the same time, was released in 1895, and the Vitagraph in 1896. These were commercialized and became the basis for the development of the film industry.
