Ebigashima Island

…It is located west of Mount Tsukuba, and the Sakuragawa River runs to the east of the town, while the Kogai River runs along the western border. The central part of the town is a plateau. The town center is Ebigashima, where the Shimotsuma Kaido and Tsukuba Kaido roads cross, and the town hall and shops are concentrated here. At the end of the Heian period, this was the site of Anrakujuin's Murata Manor, and during the Sengoku period, it was the site of a battle between the Oda and Yuki clans, who competed for supremacy in the area. …
