Seven species have been recorded from Japan, including the stone beetle Campodea ishii . They live underground, in fallen leaves, under fallen trees and stones, and feed on plant matter, humus, and fungi (hyphae and spores). They are white, slender insects with a body length of 3 to 6 mm, without wings or eyes. The mandibles and mandibles are normally inside the skull, making them internal openings, and their antennae are bead-shaped and have more than 20 segments. ...
