Congratulations - Yogoto

Japanese:
Congratulations - Yogoto

Among the prayers recited in festival ceremonies, those with a particularly strong congratulatory meaning are called 'Hogigoto'. They can also be written as 'Kagoto' or 'Kichikoto', and can also be read as 'Hogigoto'. For personal celebrations, the 'Murohogi no Kotoba', which is used to celebrate the construction of a newly built house, has been passed down. For official occasions, the words of congratulations are presented to the Emperor, who is the living deity. The 'Nakatomi no Kotoba', recited by the Nakatomi clan of the Jingikan at the Sechie on the Dragon Day of the Senso Daijosai, is also called 'Amatsukami no Kotoba', and describes auspicious events that have occurred since the Age of the Gods, blessing the longevity of the reign. A separate entry in the Taiki, a diary by Fujiwara no Yorinaga, contains the congratulatory words offered by the Deputy Minister of Jingi, Onakatomi Kiyochika, at the Daijosai ceremony held in the first year of the Koji era (1142) during the reign of Emperor Konoe. The Engishiki also includes the "Izumo no Kuni no Miyatsuko no Kotoba," a congratulatory message to be offered to the Imperial Court when a new Izumo kuni no miyatsuko is appointed.
