He was the successor to the Führer and held the special title of Reichsmarschall (since 1940), and was the founder of the German Air Force. He was also a powerful figure in the business world as the Plenipotentiary for the Four-Year Plan, and made a fortune through the Reichswehr corporation Hermann Goering. Born the son of a colonial bureaucrat, he became a star pilot in World War I before joining the party at the end of 1922 and taking part in the Munich Putsch in November 1923. …
