These are the Tibetan names for the group of Buddhist scriptures (sūtras and precepts) translated into Tibetan, as well as the group of treatises containing commentaries on them, and are transliterated as Ganshuī and Danshuī. They are known as the Tibetan Tripitaka. Most of them were translated between 779 and 842 with the cooperation of scholars from India and Tibet, and in 814 the translations were standardized and revised. Many of the translations related to esoteric Buddhism were added after the 11th century. They were compiled into their present-day form at the Nartang Monastery in western central Tibet around the beginning of the 14th century, and some of them include works by Tibetans.
