Paragonimus westermanii (English spelling)

...About 30 species have been described worldwide, of which six species parasitize humans and cause paragonimiasis. In Japan, Paragonimus westermanii was previously thought to be the only parasite to humans, but since 1974, cases of human infection with P. miyazakii , which was thought to be a parasite of wild animals such as weasels and martens, have been reported. Other animal parasitic species distributed in Japan include P. ohirai and P. iloktsuenensis .
