Katsura Sanshi

Rakugo performer and TV personality. His real name is Kawamura Shizuya. Born July 16, 1943 in Osaka Prefecture. Belongs to Yoshimoto Creative Agency. In 1966, he became a disciple of Katsura Kobunshi III (later the 5th Katsura Bunshi). In 1967, he gained popularity on late-night radio shows, and since 1969, he has been active as a TV show host, including "Shinkonsan Irasshai" (TV Asahi). Since forming a creative rakugo group in 1981, he has created 230 rakugo stories and has performed overseas many times. In 1983, he won the Grand Prize in the Popular Entertainment category at the Arts Festival of the Agency for Cultural Affairs for his work "Golf Yoakemae," and in 2003, he won the Grand Prize in the Entertainment category at the Arts Festival of the Agency for Cultural Affairs for the final performance of his solo performance "125 Selections of Katsura Sanshi's Creative Rakugo." Since the same year, he has also served as the president of the Kamigata Rakugo Association. On his 69th birthday, July 16, 2012, he succeeded his master and took the name Katsura Bunshi VI.

落語家、タレント。本名・河村靜也。1943年7月16日、大阪府出身。よしもとクリエイティブ・エージェンシー所属。66年、3代桂小文枝(のちの5代桂文枝)に入門。67年にラジオの深夜番組で人気を獲得し、69年以降は「新婚さんいらっしゃい」(テレビ朝日系列)などテレビ番組の司会としても活躍。81年に創作落語の会を結成して以来、230席もの落語を創作し、海外公演も多数開催している。83年に作品「ゴルフ夜明け前」で文化庁芸術祭大衆芸能部門大賞受賞、2003年には独演会「桂三枝の創作落語125撰」のファイナル公演で文化庁芸術祭演芸部門大賞を受賞。同年より上方落語協会会長も務めている。12年7月16日、自身の69歳の誕生日に師匠の跡を継ぎ、6代桂文枝を襲名した。
