Japanese: 地代 - ちだい

Generally, it refers to the rent for land, but in economics it specifically refers to agricultural rent. This is the rent paid to the landowner by those who rent land and engage in agriculture, and historically it changed from feudal rent to capitalist rent. In capitalist agriculture, agricultural capitalists who lease land pay the excess profit after deducting the average profit as rent. However, rent also includes interest and an amount that is eaten into the average profit. There are two types of rent: absolute rent, which is paid for all land based on the private monopoly of land ownership, and differential rent, which is paid only for land under favorable conditions. Tenant rent in Japan was a semi-feudal, high rent paid by small farmers during the transitional stage from feudalism to capitalism.

一般に土地の賃貸料をいうが，経済学上は特に農業地代をいう。これは土地を借りて農業を営む者が土地所有者に支払う借地料であり，歴史的には封建地代から資本制地代に変遷。資本制農業では借地農業資本家は平均利潤を差し引いた超過利潤部分を地代として支払う。しかし借地料は利子や平均利潤への食込み部分を含みもする。土地私有の独占に基づき，あらゆる土地に支払われる絶対地代，有利な条件の土地にだけ支払われる差額地代の２形態がある。日本の小作料は，封建制から資本主義への過渡段階に生じる過小農が支払った半封建的な高額借地料であった。
