Rinya Kawamura

Rinya Kawamura
1879-1947 A pathologist from the Taisho and Showa periods.
Born on September 11, 1879. Became a professor at Niigata Medical College and then Niigata Medical University, and later became a professor at Keio University. In 1924, he received the Academy Prize for his research on lipids. In 1932, he received the Asakawa Prize for discovering that the pathogen of scrub typhus is Rickettsia. He passed away on October 31, 1947, at the age of 69. He was born in Yamanashi Prefecture and graduated from Tokyo Imperial University. His publications include "General Pathology" (co-authored).

明治12年9月11日生まれ。新潟医専,その後身の新潟医大の教授となり,のち慶大教授に就任。大正13年類脂質の研究で学士院賞を受賞。ツツガムシ病の病原体がリケッチアであることを究明して昭和7年浅川賞を受賞。昭和22年10月31日死去。69歳。山梨県出身。東京帝大卒。著作に「病理学総論」(共著)。
