An old town on the north shore of the Ariake Sea in Saga County, Saga Prefecture. It occupies fertile reclaimed land that has been in operation since the Middle Ages on the right bank of the Chikugo River estuary. It produces a lot of rice and is also a thriving seaweed farm. It also processes seafood such as sea mushroom lees pickles and crab pickles. In October 2007, it was incorporated into Saga City along with Higashiyoga Town and Kubota Town in Saga County. 46.49 km2 . Population 18,250 (2005). 佐賀県佐賀郡，有明海北岸の旧町。筑後川河口部右岸に広がる中世以降の肥沃な干拓地を占め，米を多産，ノリ養殖も盛ん。ウミタケかす漬，カニ漬などの水産加工も行う。2007年10月佐賀郡東与賀町，久保田町と佐賀市へ編入。46.49km2。１万8250人（2005）。
