A field of research that specifically clarifies the internal morphology of plants. In Japan, plant morphology often refers to this field of research, but in reality, plant morphology has a broader definition and refers to a comprehensive range of subjects, from comparative morphology to development. Plant anatomy was once a field that purely observed internal morphology at a microscopic level, but nowadays research into shape cannot progress without being separated from its functional characteristics.
