Goshikidai

Japanese:
Goshikidai

A plateau-like mountain range facing the Seto Inland Sea in the central-northern part of Kagawa Prefecture. It is also called Kokubudai. It is a Yashima-type mountain range of 8 square kilometers that straddles Takamatsu City and Sakaide City, and the summit is almost flat. The highest point is Mt. Ohira (479 meters), and tuff and Sanuki-type andesite are widely distributed on granite, and it is covered with pine trees. It is called Goshikidai because of the mountains Shiramine-san, Kuromine-san, Kounomine-san, Aomine-san, and Kinomine-san. A road has been built around these peaks, and you can enjoy the beauty of the many islands of the Seto Inland Sea. In addition to observation decks and rest houses, there is also the Seto Inland Sea History and Folklore Museum and the Outdoor Activities Center, and the museum in particular collects folklore materials related to fishing. On Mt. Shiramine, there is the 81st temple of the 88 Shikoku Pilgrimage, Shiromine-ji Temple, and on Mt. Seiho, there is the 82nd temple, Negoroji Temple. Within the grounds of Shiromine-ji Temple is the tomb of Emperor Sutoku, who was exiled to Sanuki after the Hogen Rebellion. There is a national vacation village on the northwest foot of Goshikidai.
