〘Noun〙 (also "kataki". Meaning "wooden pattern")① A board with the shape of an object carved into it. Used when rubbing it onto cloth to dye the pattern. ※Utsubo (around 970-999) Fukiage no Ue "A hunting outfit made of red white twill with threads dyed the color of the twill and woven with the kataki crest."② A board with characters carved into it. Used when rubbing it onto paper for printing. Wooden block. ※Azuma Kagami - June 4, 1244 ( Kangen 2) "One hundred copies of the Lotus Sutra were printed , and this wooden pattern was carved into the Emperor 's handwriting ."③ Something that serves as a model or standard. Model. Basic form. ※Ryōiki (810-824) "Because this matter was thought to be a way to repay the damage done to the seasonal leaves, it was passed on to all people on June 1st of the same year (National Diet Library Honkunshaku Kaisha Nigokatagi ) ."
