〘 noun 〙 (meaning a hard wood) A hard wood. Or a plant that produces such wood. It is mainly oaks, oaks, and zelkova trees that belong to the Fagaceae family, and was prized mainly for firewood and charcoal. ※Heichu (around 965) 2 "I should be the one to cry out, but I am so weak that I can't bear it."
