Buffing compound - Buffing compound
An abrasive used for medium polishing (rough polishing) and finish polishing (shine polishing) in buff finishing. It consists mainly of an abrasive (abrasive grains), which is dispersed in oils or wax, or suspended in water, emulsifiers, surfactants, etc. For rough polishing (base polishing) in buff finishing, coarse abrasive grains are usually attached to the outer surface of the buff with adhesive. Buffing abrasives are classified as shown in the table. Rod-shaped buffing abrasives are solid at room temperature and are formed into a rod shape for convenient use.

バフ仕上げの中研磨(生地研磨),仕上げ研磨(つや出し研磨)に用いる研磨剤。研磨材(砥粒(とりゆう))を主成分とし,これを油脂,蠟に分散させたり,水,乳化剤,界面活性剤などに懸濁させたもの。なおバフ仕上げの粗研磨(下研磨)には,粗い砥粒をバフの外周面に接着剤で固着して用いるのが普通である。バフ研磨剤は表のように分類される。棒状バフ研磨剤は常温において固形で,使用に便利なように棒状に成形したものである。
