Fossil Valley

It is necessary to distinguish between buried valleys and fossil valleys, which are former valleys that are covered by sedimentary layers and are buried underground. The process of covering the valley floor and walls, which were once the surface, with sediments and creating a wide depositional surface on top of them is called silting.
