A private television broadcasting company established in 1957 by Nippon Cultural Broadcasting and Nippon Broadcasting. Headquarters in Tokyo. Originally Fuji Television, the company changed its name to the current one in 1958. It began broadcasting in 1959. It is the key station of FNN. It is part of the Fuji-Sankei Group with the Sankei Shimbun and other companies, and as the core of the group, it has expanded into various related businesses such as film. It has subsidiaries such as the publishing company Fusosha and the music production company Pony Canyon. It is popular for its variety shows. In 1997, it built a new building in Daiba, Minato Ward, and in 2003, it built a large, state-of-the-art studio and is fully equipped with digital broadcasting facilities. In 2005, it reached a settlement with Livedoor, which had been fighting over the acquisition of Nippon Broadcasting shares, and successfully made Nippon Broadcasting a subsidiary. Capital in 2011: 8.8 billion yen. Sales for the fiscal year ending March 2011: 328.2 billion yen.
