According to the family tree in the "Zoku Gunsho Ruiju," the family was born in Kasuya-sho by Fujiwara Yoshikata's son Motokata, who had been sent down to the country as the "Province of Sagami Province," and took the name Kasuya Taro, but the authenticity of this is unclear. Motokata's son Morisue was called Kasuya-shoji, and Morisue's grandson Morihisa was called Kasuya Gonnokami, so the Kasuya clan was both the official of Kasuya-sho and also had ties to the provincial government.
