Murata Shugyo

Japanese: 村田周魚 - むらたしゅうぎょ

1889-1967 A senryu poet from the Taisho and Showa periods.
Born November 17, 1889. Worked in the Metropolitan Police Department's Health Department, and later edited the Pharmaceutical Journal. In 1913, he became a member of the Ryusonji Senryu Society of Inoue Kenkabo. In 1913, he founded the Kiyari Ginsha and launched Senryu Kiyari, which continued to be published as a company newsletter even during the war. He passed away on April 11, 1967. He was 77 years old. He was born in Tokyo and graduated from Tokyo School of Pharmacy (now Tokyo University of Pharmacy and Life Sciences). His real name was Taisuke. His works include Senryu Zatsuwa.

明治22年11月17日生まれ。警視庁衛生部につとめ,のち薬学誌を編集。大正2年井上剣花坊(けんかぼう)の柳樽寺(りゅうそんじ)川柳会同人となる。9年きやり吟社をおこし「川柳きやり」を創刊,戦時下でも社報の形で発行をつづけた。昭和42年4月11日死去。77歳。東京出身。東京薬学校(現東京薬大)卒。本名は泰助。著作に「川柳雑話」など。
