Moses de Leon (1250-1305) in the 13th century wrote the Zohar (the Book of Splendor) (correctly called Sefer ha Zohar). This is a fundamental scripture that shows what the Kabbalistic interpretation of the Bible is, while recording the deeds of Simeon ben Yohai, a rabbi active in the 2nd century.
