…When the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was founded, it was located in Tsukiji, Chuo Ward, Tokyo, but in December 1970, it moved to its current location in Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda Ward, on the former site of the Ministry of Civil Affairs (the former residence of Kuroda, the feudal lord of Fukuoka). Since then, it has been located in its current location, except for a period when it was temporarily moved to Enryokan (then the state guest house) in Hama-rikyu Gardens, Chuo Ward, after a fire in 1977, and when it moved to various locations around Kasumigaseki from the end of the Pacific War to the early postwar period, when it was mainly located around Kasumigaseki. This is why the name "Kasumigaseki diplomacy" was born. According to the personnel order of 1969, the six ministries, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were each assigned the ranks of Minister, Daifu, Shofu, Daijo, Gon-Daijo, Shojo, and Gon-Shojo, with Sawa Nobuyoshi as the first Minister of Foreign Affairs and Terashima Munenori as the first Gon-Daifu. …
