Angaur [island] - Angaur
A small island in the southern tip of the Republic of Palau in the Western Pacific Ocean. Development began by Germany in 1909, and phosphate mines were produced there until 1954 during the Japanese Mandate period before World War II. Saipan on the west coast is the main settlement. Approximately 8 km2 . A fierce battleground during the Pacific War.
