This is a reference site for the Longshan culture located in Chengziya, Longshan Town, Licheng County, Shandong Province, China. Li Ji of the Institute of History and Philology, National Academia Sinica, led by Dong Zuobin, Guo Baojun, Liang Siyong, Wu Jinding, and Wang Xiang conducted an investigation from 1930 to 1931. Chengziya is a loess region on the northern slope of the Taishan Mountains, located on a plateau east of the Wuyuan River. The cultural layer is divided into two layers, the upper one being dated to the Yin period, and a city wall belonging to this period has been discovered. The pottery excavated from the lower layer includes coarse cordage pattern pottery and glossy black pottery, and the distinctive black pottery has attracted the attention of the academic community. Shapes of pottery include bowls, plates, cups, beans, porcelain, and kettle, and many stone tools and bone and horn tools have also been excavated. As a result of this finding, cultures similar to the Chengziya Lower Culture came to be called the Longshan Culture, but after the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Longshan Culture in the Shandong area, with Chengziya as its standard, came to be named Shandong (typical) Longshan Culture, to distinguish it from the Longshan Culture of the Central Plains.

中国山東省歴城県竜山鎮城子崖にある竜山文化の標準遺跡。1930～31年にかけて国立中央研究院歴史語言研究所の李済を中心に董作賓，郭宝鈞，梁思永，呉金鼎，王湘らが調査を行なった。城子崖は泰山山脈の北斜面の黄土地帯で，武原河の東の台地にある。文化層は上下 2層に分かれ，上層は殷・周期に比定され，この時期に属する城壁が発見されている。下層出土の土器には粗質の縄蓆文土器と光沢のある黒陶が存在し，特色のある黒陶が学界の注目を集めた。土器の器形には，鉢，盤，杯，豆，鬲，甗などがあり，石器，骨角器も多数出土している。この成果によって，城子崖下層文化に類似する文化を竜山文化と呼ぶようになったが，中華人民共和国成立後は，城子崖を標準とする山東方面の竜山文化を山東（典型的）竜山文化と名づけ，中原の竜山文化と区別している。
