[International anti-fascist cultural movement]
The forerunners of the international anti-fascist cultural movement include the Amsterdam Pleyel Movement, which was launched by Romain Rolland and Barbusse with an anti-war slogan, and whose initiators included Gorky, Einstein, Dreiser, and dos Passos, and which gathered 2,200 people from 29 countries at its international anti-war conference in Amsterdam in August 1932, and held a second conference in Paris the following year; the Anti-Fascist United Front, which was initiated by French radical Socialist deputy Bergery and formed in May 1933 with the cooperation of JR Blok and Billdruck; and the anti-fascist movement in 1933 of the Association of Revolutionary Writers and Artists, which included Gide and Malraux. However, it was not until the February 6, 1934 incident that it became established as a unified movement of intellectuals that transcended political positions.

　国際的な反ファシズム文化運動の先駆としては，反戦を掲げてロマン･ロランとバルビュスが呼びかけ，ゴーリキー，アインシュタイン，ドライサー，ドス･パソスらが発起人に名を連ねる，1932年8月アムステルダムの国際反戦大会に29ヵ国2200名を集め，翌年パリで第2回大会を開催した〈アムステルダム･プレイエル運動〉，フランスの急進社会党代議士ベルジュリが主唱し，J.R.ブロック，ビルドラックらの協力した33年5月結成の〈反ファシズム共同戦線〉，ジッド，マルローらによる〈革命作家芸術家協会〉の33年における反ファシズム運動などがあげられる。しかし，それが政治的立場を超えた知識人の統一運動として定着するのは，34年の2月6日事件をまたなければならない。…
