This book records the regulations for taboos, defilement, and other matters at the Inner Shrine of Ise. It was written by the Inner Shrine's chief priest, Arakida Moritoki. It was written in 2 volumes in 1513 (Eisho 10). The title is taken from the era when it was written. The first volume records 30 articles such as the rules for temporary dress for relatives inside and outside the shrine, the number of days for defilement from the date of temporary dress for married couples, the taboos for working in sacred places, and fires. The second volume records 120 articles including the Shinmei Imperial Rescript, the Imperial Family Charter, and the norms of both shrines, as well as past examples, the style of the Middle Ages, and the ceremonies of the time. In other words, the book first classifies and organizes the old rules, and then records the sources for them, with the aim of ensuring that taboos and other matters were strictly observed at the shrine even during the turbulent warring states of the Warring States period.
