…They are also called monsters, demons, or demonic creatures, and because many of them can change into various shapes, they are also called ghosts or ghosts. Folk words that are the general term for monsters can be roughly divided into the mo-series mo, mo-mo, momonger, mokko, amo, and anmo found in eastern Japan, and the ga-series gagama, gagamo, gango, gagoji, and gamo found in western Japan. Mononoke, as the manifestation of things, a general term for spiritual beings or mystical powers, is a representative term for monsters that appear in historical documents, and when contrasted with kami-no-ke, the manifestation of gods, it meant the manifestation of evil things.
