…He was a politician who led the revolutionary republican movement under the July Monarchy and was a pioneer of the movement in 19th century France. Influenced by his father, who was a member of the National Assembly during the Great Revolution, he became a follower of the Jacobins. Before the July Revolution, he belonged to associations such as the Carbonari, but immediately after the revolution he organized the Association of Friends of the People. When this was suppressed during the Paris uprising in June 1832, he worked to develop the Association of Human Rights, which had a powerful sub-organization, and became chairman of its central committee. While working hard to promote cooperation between the moderates and revolutionaries within the organization, he also devoted himself to propaganda activities, such as editing "Paris in the Revolution" (4 volumes). …
