It is pronounced "hakusho." A book written on silk cloth. In ancient times, before the invention of paper, silk came to be used as a calligraphy material, and brushes were commonly used to draw with ink. Since bamboo and wooden tablets were bulky and heavy and inconvenient to carry, silk appeared as an alternative, but silk cloth was expensive and unsuitable as a calligraphy material. Relics have been discovered in ancient tombs in the Western Regions, and in 1972, a large number of silk scripts, including "The Art of Warring States" and Laozi, were discovered at Mawangdui in Changsha, Hunan Province.
