A legend about a village where refugees from the Heike clan settled. These villages, also called Heikedani, are located in remote mountain areas and islands such as Gokasho in Kumamoto Prefecture, Shiiba in Miyazaki Prefecture, Iyayama in Tokushima Prefecture, and the Satsunan Islands, and have their own unique language and customs, and have no contact with or intermarriage with other villages. This legend was born from the fact that old-fashioned customs remain in mountain villages, even if the people are not descendants of the Heike clan. →Related articleHidden Villages Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
